connective words and coordinating
Connective are connecting adverbs that link ideas which may be in different sentences or paragraph. Connective are used between paragraph or between sentences in order to shoe a connection between one part of your writing.
We used coordinating connective to join main clauses to make
compound sentences
Example:
- - For
- - And
- - Nor
- - But
- - Or
- - Yet
- - So
Coordinating connectives are also called fanboys.
Example sentences :
ü
Amy is a farmer, and she has ten turkeys
They join subordinate clauses to main clauses and usually don’t need a comma when we used
them
- - If
- - Although
- - While
- - Because
- - Since
ü
Ben is angry because it is so cold
ü
Naomi has calmed down since he arrived
Subordinating connectives can also be moved to the front of sentences, but
if you do this you need a comma after the subordinate clause
ü
Because it’s so cold, Ben is angry.
ü
If it snows, Ben will stay in bed.
